As most of you know (especially if you've seen Lindsay in the past 6 months), Lindsay is pregnant. Everything has gone relatively smoothly the entire pregnancy. At her last doctor's appointment, her blood pressure was high when first taken, but then went down after she rested for a minute. The doctor wasn't concerned at that time, but told her if she felt any different or began seeing spots in her vision, to call them. Wednesday morning this week, Lindsay began seeing lots of spots and flashing lights. Her doctor had her come in that afternoon and her blood pressure was and remained high. They sent her to labor and delivery at the hospital to have some tests done and to have her blood pressure monitored for the afternoon. I left work to join her. For future reference to some of you, labor and delivery is not very easy to find, and it is VERY secure. After stopping at 4 different reception desks and asking for directions, I found Lindsay.
She felt fine and was just laying down watching some TV. They had taken some blood to do some tests and had a fetal heart monitor strapped to her belly. It was fun to hear Andy's little heartbeat for the afternoon, and any time he kicked or moved around it made loud noises...very fun. It was also nice because we were in a birthing suite so got to see what it was like since that is the hospital we'll be giving birth in...well, Lindsay will be giving birth and I'll be along for the ride.
All the tests came back normal and her blood pressure stayed down. Her doctor told her not to go back to work and they would do a follow-up appointment on Friday. Her pressure was fine on Friday, so she's going to go to work on Monday and then we have a regular appointment and ultrasound scheduled for Tuesday, so they'll check her blood pressure again then after she has been back at work for a day. We'll determine then what to do going forward. It was a long day for Lindsay on Thursday, laying in bed most of the day. Especially because she felt just fine. We're very thankful that it helped though and that we had another appointment already scheduled for Tuesday. We'll post info and perhaps pictures from the ultrasound next week.
