The baby's coming...

Well, now that Christmas has come and gone, it is very real that little Anderson will be here very soon. Yesterday. I was checking how long the coupon on one of those restaurant surveys lasted, and it was 90 days. I realized that our baby will be here before that expires. That is SCARY and exciting. So we decided to get into gear and go look for dressers so we have a place to put Andy's clothes. Well, we hit the jackpot at Nebraska Furniture Mart. A little thing called "The Complete Baby's Room" in a box. Literally. One box contained all the parts needed for a crib, changing table, and dresser (or clothing organizer as the box prefers to call it). Thanks, Warren Buffet. Normally, we rush home and put things like that together. But after pushing this very large, heavy box up the stairs (a pregnant wife can't be much help), we decided to wait until today to put it together. So we went to the movies instead.

We got up this morning and got right down to business putting the furniture together. I'm lucky to have a wife that likes to put furniture together. It was going really well. The crib went together quickly. Once we figured out how to get all the slats that hold the mattress to stay together, it was pretty quick. And the side even goes up and down like it is supposed to. All it needs is a mattress and bedding and it's ready to go (the bedding debate continues). The changing table went together just as easily. Bring on the poopy diapers.

We knew the dresser would be more difficult, because we had to assemble the drawers. Well, the four drawers went together without a hitch. Then we got halfway through the putting the frame together and found out we have two left sides. And we were on such a role! I tried calling the company to get the part sent out, but they are only open normal business hours which means I'll have to wait until Tuesday to call. Oh well. We feel so much more prepared for the baby now.

About the restaurant coupon. Ever since we got pregnant, everytime we go to a restaurant or fast food place or Target and get the "Take this survey and get $3 off" or "Take this survey and be entered to win $25,000," I obsessively save it and take the survey as soon as we get home. I thought this was just me but Lindsay's cousin was over the other day and told us her husband does the same thing since they had their baby. I feel somewhat justified. At least I'm not buying lottery tickets. I am justified.
